3 Take Aways From Beyonce Formation Marketing Campaign

The Art Of Surprise

Beyonce-Formation

As we all know Beyonce is no stranger to the art of surprise. The Queen of Music and might I add multitalented artist proved this by releasing here last self-titled album Beyonce without any marketing campaigns. The diva has done it again by exploding over the internet a rather cultural approved video the day before the Super Bowl without any notice.

As marketers what can we learn from Magical B?

As marketers what can we learn from Magical B? My number one takeaway was the art of surprise. Knowingly as entrepreneurs, small businesses, or consultants  we may not be able to simply air a video on Youtube and expect million to buy or become new clients, however; there’s something unique about using this approach.

In your next campaign that advertises new services or products for sale try leaving out a twist that’ll make your clients and prospect oh and ahh once it’s released. By doing so, this allows that special element to become the main attention and gathers more of a buzz that’ll be shared both old school word of mouth and via the internet.

Blast Out Your Unique Message

Besides being known for her element of surprise Beyonce is also known to vocalize her opinions on political topics, feminist rights, and now racial views by using music videos as her canvas. We’ve seen this demonstrated in past videos such as Who Run The World and by using feminist novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie speech in Flawless.

Our lesson to be learned class – is to be OUTSPOKEN!

Yes, there’s a certain danger involved with being completely blunt (I’m not saying, Donald Trump, your message). Use your artistic approach to captivate the audience while also being very clear in your marketing topics. Respect isn’t earned by shying away and creeping in through the back door whenever there’s an opening. It’s earned by being honest with who you are and what your organization represents.

Swiftly Capitalize On Your Market

Lastly, the time to capitalize on any new services or product is swiftly and quickly. Before the release date of your campaign double back to review each area. Make sure you are capitalizing in every area possible and not waiting to see profit further down the marketing funnel. If there are any loopholes brainstorm with your team and create innovating ways to get the most ROI.

Beyonce marketing genius for Formation is also overflowing her pockets. She quickly launched a new website shop.beyonce.com which is selling slogan t-shirts and other goodies from the Formation video. I bet the cash registers are still ringing.

Until next time stay Web Cougars, my friend!
